The Bridgestone Battlax Racing Street RS11 is a racetrack‑focused sport tire with full road approval. It sits between the Battlax S22/S23 and the full racing Battlax R11. What this racing‑inspired street tire can really do is what we reveal in our detailed Bridgestone Battlax RS11 test.

Info: The Battlax RS11 comes as OEM equipment on the Yamaha R1 (2021/2022), Kawasaki Ninja H2, Honda CBR Fireblade, BMW M1000R, and Suzuki GSX‑R — underlining its hypersport all‑round character.

    Bridgestone Battlax RS11 Review

The Bridgestone Racing Street RS11 is an excellent tire for beginner trackdays, riding to the track on your own wheels, and for riders who enjoy pushing hard on sunny days on the road. In this test, we evaluated the Battlax RS11 on the BMW S1000R and reveal how it performs in real‑world road use.

    Grip on Dry Roads

Although the RS11 is designed primarily for racetrack performance, it is still road‑capable. Grip on both track and road is excellent. Only at very low temperatures did we notice weaknesses – especially on cold days on the street.

On the racetrack, the RS11 works very well for beginners and intermediate riders. For serious lap‑time chasing on 200‑hp superbikes, however, the R11 is the better choice.

Compared to the Michelin Power Cup 2, the RS11 has a more forgiving warm‑up behavior. It reaches temperature quickly and does not show dramatic differences when cold. Still, it clearly prefers higher temperatures.

Grip levels at both front and rear are extremely high. Even under hard acceleration on the S1000R, the RS11 never left us wanting more. The tire also retains heat well — it doesn’t cool down during slow riding or short stops.

From our perspective, the RS11’s grip and handling characteristics match the BMW S1000R perfectly, making it one of our absolute favorite dry‑grip tires.

Bridgestone claims the following improvements over the RS10:

    • More mileage
    • Better cold performance
    • Better wet performance
    • Wider temperature window

We can confirm all of these.

    Grip on Wet Roads

The predecessor struggled in the wet — normal for a hypersport/track tire. The RS11 shows clear improvement, but it is still not ideal for long, sporty rides in the rain. However, if you get caught in a shower, the RS11 remains manageable. The center tread performs reasonably well, and damp sections can be ridden at a decent pace without fear.

Compared directly, the RS11 inspires more confidence on wet roads than the Power Cup 2. It cannot match the wet grip of the Battlax S22 or S23 — but that is not its purpose.

    Braking Performance

The RS11 is very transparent under braking and offers strong deceleration in all situations. Once warm, the front tire inspires a lot of confidence. Braking feedback is excellent, stability is high, and grip under braking is extremely solid. Trail braking into corners works beautifully — the tire remains planted and predictable.

    Riding Comfort

Comfort was clearly not the top priority in the RS11’s development. Still, it is perfectly usable on the road. Damping is acceptable – not comparable to a touring tire, but better than expected for a racing‑inspired hypersport tire.

    Tire Wear

The RS11 does not handle wear very well. Even on the road, the tire tears up quickly, and after a few spirited kilometers, the rubber begins to shred. It may look impressive at the café stop, but it is counterproductive for mileage.

The rear tire suffers heavily even under moderate riding. A pronounced step forms at the transition to the harder center compound. The front tire, however, wears normally and remains within ideal limits.

Despite the rear tire looking “destroyed” after only a few kilometers, we noticed no negative effects on performance. Even after 1,000 km and heavy edge wear, the RS11 still worked flawlessly.

On the racetrack, the RS11 shows increased shoulder wear on 200‑hp bikes under extreme use. After 3–5 laps on hot days, performance drops slightly but remains acceptable.

    Mileage

The RS11 is definitely not a mileage tire — especially at the rear. Even with gentle riding, more than 2,500 km is unlikely.

Bridgestone provides the following guidelines, which we can confirm:

    • Pro level: ~500 racetrack laps
    • Occasional riders: 2–3 trackdays
    • Road use: 1,500–2,500 km (Bridgestone claims slightly less than the S22 under gentle riding)

On our BMW S1000R, final mileage was 2,282 km. Near the end, the rear tire entered the illegal tread zone; the front could have lasted about half a rear tire longer.

    Riding Stability / Cornering Stability

Bridgestone’s V‑MS Belt technology optimizes stiffness distribution in the rear tire. Shoulder contact length is increased, improving stability at high lean angles. Fine carbon particles in the shoulder compound enhance asphalt bite at high speed and maximum lean.

In terms of stability — especially on the racetrack — the RS11 is rock‑solid.

The RS11 combines excellent line‑holding with very strong cornering stability. It is not stubborn and allows easy mid‑corner corrections. For stability and cornering behavior, the RS11 is one of our favorites on the market.

    Agility / Steering Behavior

The RS11 is wonderfully agile. It can be guided through corners effortlessly without losing precision or becoming nervous. Handling and turn‑in behavior are excellent. The tire follows the chosen line faithfully and requires little effort even in quick direction changes. Initial turn‑in is sharp and responsive – making the RS11 a joy on mountain passes and tight twisties.

    Uprighting Moment

The Bridgestone Battlax RS11 behaves almost completely neutral. On the BMW S1000R, we noticed no uprighting tendency when braking at lean. Trail braking and releasing the brake remain fully neutral.

    Tire Pressure

To get the most out of the RS11, you should deviate from the standard 2.5/2.9 bar pressures. Depending on use, we recommend the following for 1000cc hypernakeds and superbikes:

    • Track (cold): 2.0 bar front / 1.7–1.8 bar rear
    • Road (cold): 2.2 bar front / 1.9–2.0 bar rear (This results in ~2.4–2.5 bar front and ~2.1–2.3 bar rear when hot)

Note: On the road, experimenting with pressure can make sense. Even with higher pressures, we could not eliminate the edge tearing. However, the RS11 performed extremely well on the S1000R in DDC Hard (Dynamic) mode with the pressures above.

    Bridgestone Battlax RS11 Experiences

The Battlax RS11 is a street‑legal trackday tire designed for extreme road riders and intermediate trackday riders who travel to the circuit on their own wheels. Its biggest strengths are its easy handling on the racetrack and its surprisingly versatile performance on the road. Even in the rain, the RS11 remains reasonably manageable, making it a great option for riders who want maximum sportiness on the street or who frequently ride to trackdays without a trailer.

For us, the Battlax RS11 is one of the best hypersport tires on the market. It combines extreme sportiness with excellent handling and shows no bad manners when cold. Its heat behavior is also outstanding — far better than competitors like the Power Cup 2. If you want one of the best sport tires for the road and can accept limited mileage, the Battlax RS11 will absolutely satisfy you.
